About Rhopoint Instruments

Rhopoint Instruments was established back in 1988 as part of the Rhopoint Group and was originally founded as a manufacturer of gloss meters. Based in the southeast of the UK, they are now a leading manufacturer of test equipment primarily focussed on appearance quality. Since then, their product range has developed and increased to far more than just gloss meters. They have now expanded into many other parameters of total surface quality including orange peel / DOI, haze, texture, defect analysis, shade, and opacity. All products are manufactured by Rhopoint Instruments in the UK within an ISO 9001:2015 environment.

Rhopoinproducts are available via a network of specialist distributors worldwide, who can provide advice and guidance on selecting the correct product for customer applications.

Rhopoint Instruments handheld products are designed to be used in both research and development as well as production environments within various industries. This includes paints and coatings, automotive, yacht manufacturers, metal polishers, polished stone, smartphone, tablet PC, laptop covers, coil coaters, printing, graphic arts, powder coating, furniture, and plastics. The Rhopoint Minimum Film Forming Temperature (MFFT) measuring instrument is trusted by laboratory professionals in the leading global coatings manufacturers for measuring the temperature point of coalescence of emulsion, adhesive or latex.

In 2006 Rhopoint Instruments acquired the Hanatek range of packaging test equipment, testing many parameters to provide manufacturers and users of packaging material with consistently faster packaging speeds.

Introducing the Rhopoint ID - The world’s first imaging transmission appearance meter

Designed for transparent or translucent materials it measures all aspects of see-through appearance with a high correlation to human perception. Perfect for blown and cast films and any flat planar materials manufactured from glass, plastic or similar transparent material.

Uniquely the Rhopoint ID can characterise the customers perception of the material in real world conditions - it is able to measure “in contact” or with a separation distance between the viewed object and test material.
